A Breakthrough In Through-The-Glass Extraction

There are many glass breaching devices available today. From the pointed end of a firefighter’s axe to the carbide tipped on the end of a survival knife or an E.M.T.’s seat belt cutting tool. One thing they all have in common is that they all need to be hand-held when the user is breaking the glass. Therein lies a potential safety concern.

Here is an example of how dangerous breaking glass up-close can be. Last year a woman was driving to lunch when she went past a house that was on fire. She saw an older man in poor health screaming and frustrated standing near the edge of the road. She stopped and asked if she could help him. He cried out that his dog was still in the house. Without hesitating she ran up to the home’s front window with a rock she picked-up punched a hole in the glass. Instantly a column of toxic gas blasted through the hole and hit her in the face, changing her life forever. The toxins gave her severe c.o.p.d., an irreversible respiratory illness that progressively worsens over the course of one’s life.
This awful accident was part of our motivation to work to develop a better, much safer and versatile method of breaking glass for entrance and egress in emergencies.

This ball has astonishing glass breaking ability. It can break through two car side windows using minimal throwing force. Firefighters, soldiers and law enforcement officers will no longer need to come face to flame or face to fugitive to break the glass barrier that separates them from where they need to be. – Dave Krueger, Bob Jacksy, January 3, 2017
