Firefighters must be prepared to “self-rescue” themselves, if they become trapped in a burning building. Or if they are attempting to rescue someone from outside a building from an elevated height. The firefighters must expend precious moments in either crossing a room and “breaking and raking” a window, and then find an anchor point for them to tie off their rescue line before exiting the building. Or, if they have a victim behind a window from an elevated position and the victim cannot open the window; again, the firefighter must “brake and rake”.
These situations are the reasons why UNIQATIVE™ has developed the X-BALL™ extraction device (commonly known as the X-Ball™). The X-Ball™ is designed to be thrown through the glass that the situation presents. Because it is versatile, it is designed to allow the thrower to take a more defensive posture in their response, thus limiting their exposure to unknown hazards and utilizing cover as much as possible. Although the X-Ball™ is designed to be thrown through the glass, it can also be hand held and break the glass (tempered glass only) by striking it against the window. An A.S.P will break the glass, but it can take several attempts and if the situation involves a child or animal in a hot vehicle, swinging an ASP against a side window can escalate the fear of that child or animal. The X-Ball™ can accomplish this task discreetly and with ease.
